The capital, a densely populated city facing challenges from rapid urbanisation, climate change and air pollution, eyes to have its 30 parks and flower gardens by the end of this year.

Half of the workload has been completed so far, with 14 flower gardens having been put into use.

The local administration agreed in principle to grant nearly 900 billion VND (35.6 million USD) for the renovation of the three large parks of Thong Nhat, Thu Le, and Bach Thao.

Nine large parks are under construction, adding some 320 hectares of green spaces across the city.

Local residents have expressed their hope for more green spaces which play an important role in their spiritual and cultural lives.

Hanoi has set a target to have 60 parks, including 18 new ones, in the inner city by 2030./.VNA
