As such, vehicles will be forbidden from entering Hang Buom, Ma May, Dao Duy Tu, Hang Giay, Luong Ngoc Quyen and Ta Hien streets from 7pm-12pm (in summer) and from 6pm-12 pm (in winter) on those days.

The measure has been introduced by the department to help pedestrians and businesses on the streets. New public transport routes are to be introduced.

Six other streets in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, where many buildings date back to the 18th century, were previously zoned off for walkers every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night from January 2014.

The area is famous for serving many of Hanoi’s most famous dishes such as Bun Thang (Rice vermicelli soup served with chicken, fried egg, meat pie and mushroom), La Vong grilled fish, Pho (noodle soup served with beef or chicken) and Bun cha (rice noodle served with grilled pork).
