The project, which has been filed to the Prime Minister and Ministry of Planning and Investment, has a tentative investment of VND2.5 trillion (US$107.6 million) including more than VND1 trillion ($43 million) for land clearance allocated from the city’s public budget.
The road, spanning over 3.4km, is expected to ease traffic congestion at Phap Van Intersection – the capital’s gateway. According to a report by Hanoi authorities, its total land use demand is about 39.9ha. The resettlement plan is being developed to ensure the project’s progress.
“The project is essential for the capital’s traffic system in terms of connecting main roads, reducing pressure on Belt Road No.3 and fostering economic development of Hoang Mai, Thanh Tri districts and Hanoi’s south and southeast areas,” reads a statement from the city’s People’s Committee. — VNS
