Hanoi will organize a number of cultural and artistic activities to celebrate the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) festival, which lasts from February 5-7.

Along with decorating streets, the city will erect a number of celebrative symbols and works to place in crossroads, big squares and along main streets.


Ten key streets of the city, including Trang Tien, Trang Thi, Hang Bai, Ba Trieu, Hai Ba Trung, Phan Chu Trinh, Ngo Quyen, Thanh Nien, Dien Bien Phu and Nguyen Thai Hoc, will be lightened up with colourful lighting systems.

According to the city Department of Culture and Sports, the pedestrian streets around Hoan Kiem Lake will be decorated with fresh flowers, while decoration archways will be erected in Vo Nguyen Giap street.

High-range and low-range firework shows will be organized in different areas of the city, while art performances will be held at public places in all 30 wards and districts to serve locals.

Hanoi will organise mobile film screenings to serve audiences in all districts and wards, especially in remote areas, industrial parks and export processing zones across the city.

On February 16-17, or the 12th and 13th days of the first lunar month, a dragon boat racing festival will take place in West Lake.-VNA
