The Lại Yên-Vân Canh Road will run between the inter-area Road No 2 and Ring road 3.5 in Hoài Đức District.
It will be 2.9km long and 40m wide, and cost more than VNĐ469 billion ($19.2 million).
The road will go through Song Phương, Lại Yên and Vân Canh communes and affects 248 households.
Its construction began in October 2020, and it is 80 per cent complete. A section running through Lại Yên Commune has already opened to traffic.
Leaders of the Vân Canh Commune People's Committee said they are encouraging local residents to relocate 45 graves and hand over the site to the construction unit.
A square kilometre of the land required for the road belongs to the military, and the city people’s committee and other agencies are trying to resolve it according to regulations.
The road, when completed, will link urban areas, industrial zones, National Highway 32, Provincial Highway 422, and Thăng Long Avenue.
Widening/Lengthening of Lê Quang Đạo Road is also expected to be completed this year.
The road, which runs from Thăng Long Avenue in Nam Từ Liêm District to almost the Dương Nội urban area in Hà Đông District, is more than 2.6km long.
The work is expected to cost the district VNĐ740 billion ($30.3 million).
It began in October 2022, and some 88 per cent has been completed.
Soon 44 households and two companies are expected to hand over their lands to complete the work.
The road is expected to open to traffic on April 1 this year to mark the district’s 10th anniversary.
The third project is the road connecting Nguyễn Văn Cừ Street and the Ngọc Thụy Ward resettlement area.
Construction of the 1.5km long, 40m wide road was started by the Long Biên District People's Committee in 2018 at a cost of VNĐ1.2 trillion ($49.2 million), more than half of it going towards land acquisition and resettlement of people.
Once complete, the road will allow smooth passage from the Đông Trù Bridge through Thượng Thanh, Ngọc Thụy, Ngọc Lâm, Bồ Đề, Long Biên, and Thạch Bàn wards to the Hà Nội-Hải Phòng Highway.
Work was interrupted due to several problems with land acquisition.
The Ngọc Lâm Ward People's Committee said around 10 households have yet to hand over their lands.
Local authorities are coordinating with others to persuade them to accept compensation and move out so that the work can be speeded up. — VNS
