VietNamNet Bridge – The capital city of Ha Noi plans to cut jobs by at least 10 per cent by the year 2021.
The municipal People's Committee has asked agencies involved in the streamlining of staff and organisational restructuring to report by the end of August the number of employees who would retire, resign or be dismissed from their jobs this year.
The agencies under the programme include state-funded departments and associations of the city, districts and townships.
This month, the municipal authority issued a plan to implement the government decree on streamlining and restructuring organisations in state-funded non-profit agencies from the central to the commune levels.
The municipal authority has asked departments in urban and rural districts to plan their own job cuts, with the aim of reducing the number of employees by at least 10 per cent by the year 2021.
"The job cuts must be carried out transparently and democratically as per laws," an official of the Ha Noi authority said.
"The compensation for the job cuts should be adequate and paid on time. The head of agencies must be responsible for the results of the staff-streamlining projects," he said.
