VietNamNet Bridge – Two road sections in Ha Noi's Tay Ho District will be named after two of Viet Nam's famous artists following a decision signed by the Chairman of the city's People's Committee, Nguyen The Thao, on Monday.

Under decision No 3517/QD-UBND, naming 19 new roads and changing the length of three streets, a 2.2-km long section along the West Lake from the end of Thanh Nien Street to Trich Sai Street will be named after the well-known writer and composer, Nguyen Dinh Thi (1924-2003).

Thi belonged to the generation of artists who participated in defeating the French in the 1950s. His works included essays on philosophy, poetry, music and drama.

Another 900-metre-long section, running from number 612 Lac Long Quan Street to the intersection of Au Co Street with the city dyke, will be named after the famous composer, musician, songwriter, painter and poet Trinh Cong Son (1939-2001). He is widely considered one of salient figures of modern Vietnamese music and wrote many love longs and anti-war songs during the American War.

The city's People's Committee will also name two road sections after the first two kings of the Mac Dynasty, which ruled the whole of Viet Nam between 1527 and 1533 and the northern part of the country from 1533 until 1592. Accordingly, a 900-metre section from Pham Hung Street till the intersection with Trung Kinh Street will be named after Mac Thai To while another 840-metre-long section from Pham Hung Street to Vu Pham Ham Street will be named after Mac Thai Tong.

The city will have new street names of Hoang Lien, Chau Dai, Sung Khanh, Trung Tuu, Dam, Thanh Lam for Bac Tu Liem District; Bac Hong, Van Noi, Gia Luong for Dong Anh District; Dai Linh, Do Nha, Nguyen Hoang for Nam Tu Liem District; Yen Lo for Ha Dong District and Phuc Loi for Long Bien District.

The length of three streets of Tran Phu in Ba Dinh District, Nhat Tao in Bac Tu Liem District and Ham Nghi in Nam Tu Liem District will be adjusted.
