Hanoi to host Music Bank World Tour concert

“Music Bank in Hanoi” will be held at the My Dinh National Stadium on March 28.

According to the organizing board EXO’s Chanyeol, SISTAR’s Bora, and SHINee’s Onew will act as MCs for the show.  

Bora has been hosting Music Bank together with Park Seo Joon since 2013 while Chanyeol and Onew have been chosen to be special MCs for the concert in Hanoi.

Music Bank is a music television programme broadcast by the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS). Since 2011, the Music Bank World Tour concert has been held in a total of eight cities around the world, including Tokyo, Paris, Hong Kong, Viña del Mar, Jakarta, Istanbul, Rio de Janeiro and Mexico City.

This is the second time Music Bank performs in Hanoi. The episode is scheduled to air around ten days after the show, on April 8.

Vietnam to appear in more American movies

In the future, more American movies will be filmed in Vietnam. It was said by Jon Kuyper, Warner Bros Production Manager at a workshop on film production at the French Cultural Centre in Hanoi on March 17.

He also revealed that famous American animated fantasy-adventure film Peter Pan is scheduled to be shot in Vietnam.

At the event, Jon Kuyper stressed that this is a good opportunity for Vietnam to promote tourism.

He also suggested that Vietnamese filmmakers should highlight the country’s landscapes and traditional culture in their films.

Goethe Institute to screen award-winning films

The Goethe Institute in Hanoi will present the multiple award-winning films of director and screenwriter Hannes Stohr, including Berlin Is in Germany, One Day in Europe and Global Player, on the evenings from March 23 to 25.

The films reflect the changes Germany from the fall of the Berlin Wall to globalisation. Especially, the director will present his films and have a discussion with the public afterwards.

Stohr will also conduct workshops for young film-makers. Topics will include how to develop a film from the first idea to the screenplay, financing and directing, and finishing the film.

Vietnam attends International Francophone Day in Argentina

The French language was honoured in Buenos Aires on March 19 with a string of cultural activities jointly held by the Vietnamese Embassy in Argentina and 30 foreign organisations on the occasion of the International Francophone Day.

At the event, participants highlighted the role of the French language in fostering solidarity, friendship and cooperation among nations for mutual development and peace.

They also spoke highly of the the International Francophone Organisation (OIF) for promoting cultural diversity, sustainable development and human rights protection.

On the occasion, the Vietnamese Embassy in Argentina showcased a variety of books, magazines, photos and cuisines to popularise the Vietnamese people, country and tourism. The traditional long dress (Ao dai) performance drew public attention.

This is the fourth consecutive year the Argentina Foreign Ministry has coordinated with OIF member countries to celebrate the event and further the common bond among the French speaking community.

A member of the International Francophone Organisation (OIF) since 1970, Vietnam has actively cooperated with other member states.

OIF groups 57 member countries and 20 observers. Members in the Asian-Pacific region include Cambodia, Laos, Vanuatu and Vietnam and observer Thailand. The OIF opened the Regional Bureau for Asia-Pacific in Hanoi in 1994.

Princess festival to mark publisher's link with Disney

Various activities with a princess theme will be held for girls tomorrow at the Thong Nhat (Reunification) Park to mark five years of co-operation between the Ha Noi-based Kim Dong Publishing House and Walt Disney (Southeast Asia) Pte Ltd.

The event, which will take place between 9am and 5pm, will include a fancy dress competition, dancing; a treasure hunt and making handmade dolls, magic wands and crowns.

The publishing house's latest Vietnamese version of Frozen will be displayed at the event.

Over the past five years, the publishing house has bought the rights to various publications from the company featuring stories about characters like Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora and Bella.

Music gala in Quy Nhon to be nationally televised

Dozens of artists will perform at a free gala performance, Khat Vong Tre (Youth Ambition), in Binh Dinh Province's Quy Nhon city tomorrow to highlight patriotism.

The evening will feature pop stars My Tam, Le Quyen and Dam Vinh Hung, as well as nearly 200 dancers, musicians and pop bands.

Nearly 700 students from Quy Nhon University will accompany them on the stage.

Revolutionary music and dance created by famous composers and choreographers will be featured.

Tuong (classical drama) performers from the Dao Tan Theatre will also participate in the event.

"We will perform extracts from famous plays which praise the country and its soldiers," Gia Thien, deputy director of the theatre, said.

They will sing before an expected audience of 10,000 at an outdoor stage at Nguyen Tat Thanh Street.

The event's organiser, the Viet Nam Youth Union, in co-operation with its partners, will present scholarships to local students.

The concert will begin at 8pm on March 21. It will air live on Viet Nam Television's VTV1 and VTC9 channels. 

Cultural shows set to welcome IPU-132

Spectacular art performances will be held to mark the forthcoming Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-132), which will begin in Hanoi on March 28, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has announced.

A festival, named “Hon que Viet” (Vietnamese village soul) will be organised at the capital’s Temple of Literature on March 27.

This will be followed on March 29 by an art programme, held at the Culture Tourism Village of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups in Son Tay township, celebrating the vibrant cultures of Vietnam’s ethnic minority groups.

Another performance titled “Night of Thang Long Citadel ” will take place in the capital’s citadel complex on March 31. Participants in this event will include various famous artists, and bands, including the Vietnam National Academy of Music, violinist Bui Cong Duy, and the Song Hong Jazz Band.
