VietNamNet Bridge – From now to December, Hanoi traffic police will install an additional 450 cameras in four urban districts to control traffic.
Major Colonel Pham Quang Minh from the Hanoi Police Department said that over 40 modern cameras had been installed at traffic points in the city. These devices have high resolution and can observe traffic at night and in bad weather.
Minh said the camera system was an effective tool to control traffic, reduce congestion and traffic accidents in Hanoi. Images recorded by the cameras are transmitted to the traffic control center 24 hours a day.
The official said that from now to the year end, up to 450 cameras will be assembled in four inlying districts and the police will impose fines on traffic violators based on images recorded by the cameras.
Earlier, Hanoi’s Chairman Nguyen The Thao and Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc approved the proposal by Major General Nguyen Duc Chung, Director of the Hanoi Police Department, to install cameras to control traffic and impose fines on violators based on camera photos.
Fines imposed on violators have been applied through camera systems on three expressways, Phap Van-Cau Gie-Ninh Binh, Hanoi-Hai Phong and Hanoi – Lang Son.
