Under this program, the city aims to have 12.5 doctors and two pharmacists per 10,000 residents by 2015. The numbers will rise to 13.5 and 2.5 per 10,000 people, respectively by 2020 and 14 and 3 by 2030.
The city also targets to increase the ratio of patient beds per 10,000 residents to 20/10,000 by 2015, 25/10,000 by 2020 and 30/10,000 by 2030. In addition, by 2015, 100 percent of communes and wards will reach the national healthcare standards for communes and wards.
From 2012 to 2015, the city will build 10 new hospitals, totaling 3,850 beds. From 2016 to 2020, 15 new hospitals will be constructed, with 5,000 beds. Some hospitals will be expanded from now to 2020.
At the same time, Hanoi will set up nine first aid centers for new residential areas like My Dinh, Bac Thang Long, Hoa Lac, Thuong Tin or Phu Xuyen, Son Tay, Van Dinh and Xuan Mai.
At newly-established residential areas, each 8,000 people will have a national standardized clinic.
