On the morning of October 23, the Hanoi Traffic Police Department began installing AI-integrated cameras at the Pham Hung - Khuat Duy Tien intersection in Yen Hoa Ward.

These new AI-powered cameras feature advanced capabilities and can operate reliably in all weather and environmental conditions.

The AI system processes and analyzes video data at the edge - directly within the camera - detecting traffic violations and public safety threats. The footage is then transmitted to a centralized monitoring system, where it is cross-referenced with a comprehensive database.

A representative from the traffic police said the AI system greatly enhances the accuracy of identifying violations and security issues, reduces system delays, and minimizes the load on central server resources.

Thanks to built-in vehicle counting and flow monitoring at intersections, the system can also automatically adjust traffic light cycles in real-time to optimize flow, ease congestion, and reduce red-light waiting times.

According to the Hanoi Traffic Police Department, deploying AI cameras is a major milestone in the city's digital transformation plan. It supports the development of a smart, safe, and modern urban traffic environment.

According to VietNamNet's observations, AI cameras have recently been installed on multiple major streets including Nguyen Chi Thanh, Xuan Thuy, Nguyen Phong Sac, Le Van Luong - Khuat Duy Tien, Khuat Duy Tien - Tran Duy Hung, Xa Dan - Pham Ngoc Thach, Au Co - Lac Long Quan, Pham Van Dong, Pham Hung, and Ho Tung Mau.

Each pole supports two cameras facing opposite directions. At intersections with high traffic volume, four camera clusters are mounted, facing all directions to provide complete coverage.

Under Hanoi's Master Plan for centralized surveillance camera management approved by the municipal government, the city plans to install over 40,000 cameras by 2030. Of these, more than 16,000 will be designated for managing traffic safety, urban order, and environmental monitoring.
