VietNamNet Bridge - On New Year's Eve, Hanoi will hold firework displays at 31 places, including six places with high-range performances and 25 places with lower-range performances, announced Mr To Van Dong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The six points for high-range firework displays include the Hoan Kiem Lake in Ba Dinh District, Thong Nhat Park in Hai Ba Trung District, Lac Long Quan Flower Garden in Tay Ho District, Van Quan Lake in Ha Dong District, and My Dinh National Stadium in Nam Liem District.

Fireworks will be set off at two points at Hoan Kiem Lake: in front of the Hanoi Post Office and the headquarters of the New Hanoi Newspaper.

The 25 points for lower-range fireworks will be located in the remaining 25 districts and towns decided by local authorities.

Mr. Dong said that Hanoi would not set off fireworks on the Nhat Tan Bridge for many reasons.

He confirmed that the funding for firework displays was from civil society, not from the state budget.
