Hanoi is engulfed by haze

According to data released by Switzerland-based air quality monitor IQAir AirVisual, the air quality index (AQI) of Tay Ho district in Hanoi at 7:30 a.m. reached 321, representing a level very unhealthy for humans.

Other districts around the capital such as Hoan Kiem, Cau Giay, Dong Da, and Long Bien all reached an AQI of between 200 and 236, with this being harmful for people outdoors.

Moreover, The PAM air quality system in the country also showed the level of severely-polluted air in several areas across Hanoi. Indeed, the AQI recorded in Trau Quy reached maroon, up to 400, indicating that the overall quality of air was at the worst possible level.

Most notably, on several streets such as Tran Hung Dao, Giang Vo, and Nguyen Chi Minh, the AQI turned purple at a level of between 201 and 300.

As a result of the health risks involved, specialists have advised citizens to refrain from venturing outside unless necessary. Adults, children, pregnant women, and individuals suffering from respiratory diseases have therefore been recommended to wear masks and glasses in the event that they do go outside.
