In recent years, the department has accelerated the application of technology to ensure traffic order and safety, particularly through AI cameras deployed at congestion hotspots across the city.

In reality, illegal parking remains common on many central streets and densely populated areas, especially around hospital entrances, railway stations, bus terminals, and schools. These violations obstruct traffic flow and pose potential safety risks.

Direct enforcement has proven challenging, as many vehicles stop briefly and leave upon noticing traffic officers, or violations occur during peak hours when traffic density is high, placing additional pressure on on-duty personnel.

Through the AI camera system, violations are recorded continuously, 24 hours a day. Images are automatically captured, license plates are extracted, and data is stored for verification and processing under the “cold penalty” system.

This approach helps limit repeat offenses, reduces the burden on officers in the field, and ensures greater objectivity and accuracy in enforcement.

According to a representative of the Hanoi Traffic Police Department, maximizing the effectiveness of AI camera systems has contributed to handling violations and easing congestion, particularly related to improper stopping and parking on key routes.

Authorities have also urged residents to improve compliance with traffic laws, avoiding illegal stopping or parking in restricted or high-traffic areas.

All violations can be recorded and handled through the surveillance system, even in the absence of officers at the scene.
