VietNamNet Bridge - Dozens of cars with blue registration numbers (public cars) have been fined by Hanoi traffic police over the past several days. At least four drivers had their driving licenses revoked and the ownership certificates of eight cars were seized by police.

According to the Hanoi traffic police agency, the campaign that focuses on violations of public cars started from July 16 and will last until the end of 2013. During the campaign, traffic police officers will strengthen inspection and strictly handle violations of public motors and cars across the city.

In the first days of the campaign, the police concentrated in the downtown area, such as Ba Dinh, Hoan Kiem and Hai Ba Trung districts, where have many state agencies, schools and the high density of public cars.

In the first days of the campaign, the police fined 12 public cars that broke the traffic law, including four cases with driving licenses revoked and eight cases with ownership certificate seized.

It has been very popular that public cars rampantly violate traffic rules since they are usually not fined as private cars. The ongoing campaign is the first of its kind in Hanoi that focuses on handling violations of public cars.

According to an official of the Hanoi traffic police department, the police will inform state agencies of the violation of their drivers.
