Hanoi T&T have ended their contract with Argentinian player Victor Ormazabal just a few weeks ahead of the new season.

Ormazabal lost his position after the V.League champions signed a contract with striker Moses Oloya last week.

Oloya used to be the No. 1 player of former champions Becamex Binh Duong before he left Viet Nam to play for Kuban Krasnodar FC in Russia early this year.

V.League will begin on January 8, and Ha Noi T&T, who plan to change their name to Ha Noi FC, will play Quang Ninh Coal in the first match on home turf.

They will also compete in the AFC Champions League. In the qualifying round, they will play against hosts Kitchee FC in Hong Kong on January 31, the fourth day of Lunar New Year. If they win, coach Chu Dinh Nghiem and his team will face South Korea’s Jeju United on away ground on February 7. Only a win can push them to the main round’s group stage. If they lose, they will be dropped to the AFC Cup.

Futsal Cup lures nine participants from HCM City

The National Futsal Cup will be organised on December 23-30 with the participation of nine clubs from HCM City.

It is the tournament’s second year, which will see Hai Phuong Nam Phu Nhuan defend their title.The reigning champions and four other teams -- Thai Son Nam, Sanna Khanh Hoa, Thai Son Bac and Sanatech Khanh Hoa – received byes to the final round, while the remaining four will have to compete in a qualification round. Only the strongest among them will advance to the final round.

Then, the six teams will be divided into pairs. The winner of those pairs will enter the semi-finals.

The tournament’s qualification round will be held at the Thai Son Nam Gymnasium, while the finals are at the Rach Mieu Gymnasium.

The champions will walk away with VND50 million (US$2,300) as prize money.
