VietNamNet Bridge - Hundreds of residents fled their homes in the morning of March 25, when a fire broke out from an apartment on the 12th story of an apartment building in the Trung Hoa-Nhan Chinh residential area on Hoang Dao Thuy road, Hanoi.

Witnesses said smoke belched out from the apartment without the awareness of local residents because the fire alarm system did not work at the time, but 15 minutes later. Local people began to disperse only when passers-by and its security forces shouted to them with a loudspeaker.

Hanoi firefighting police immediately arrived at the building and subdued the fire within several tens of minutes. The fire was suspected to be caused by a short circuit in the air-conditioner which was put at the apartment’s balcony. Luckily, no casualties have been reported up to now.

Two other fires also broke out at this building in January and October of 2010.

Put into operation in 2007, this building is considered an iconic building of Trung Hoa-Nhan Chinh, one of the most modern townships in the capital.
