Organised by Ha Noi Food Rescue (HFR), the Hunger Games were inspired by the reality television programme The Amazing Race.
The goal of the Games is to give food to the underprivileged, disabled and patients in Ha Noi.
Participants can also experience social activities through HFR’s food rescue programme to become more aware of food security in the country and abroad.
The Games also create opportunities for enterprises and individuals to help the community.
Vietnamese students and foreigners living in Ha Noi can learn more about the Games and register by visiting HFR’s Facebook page at Ha Noi Food Rescue.
HFR was inspired by the "Dash for Impact" competition which focussed on projects impacting society. The food programme was established in August 2013 by a group of students from Ha Noi-Amsterdam, Luong The Vinh and Chu Van An high schools.
Since HFR’s establishment, more than 16,000 packets of surplus food from 30 restaurants and hotels have been delivered to needy people.
In addition to giving food to the needy in Hanoi everyday, HFR also holds other special programmes such as Tet Donation and Mid-Autumn Giving which collect cakes and sweets to give to children in rural and mountainous provinces.
