Talking with correspondents on the sideline of a meeting in Hanoi on March 20, Nghi said that he supported the vote of confidence and believed that this mechanism would help accurately assess qualifications of officials.

Nghi said that officials who do not win the vote of confidence for one or two years would be dismissed.

“Previously, officials were assessed each five years. As a result, some officials did not concentrate their mind on their job in the first three years. They only tried to work or tried to lobby in the last year. Annual vote of confidence will work very well in assessing and re-arranging officials,” he added.

Vote of confidence on the prestige and qualification of officials is among new points of the Party reorganizing task under the Central Party Committee’s 4th resolution.

Mr. Nghi affirmed that Hanoi would implement well the vote of confidence at state agencies at all levels.

The Hanoi’s Party chief also emphasized the mechanism to control and supervise personal asset declaration of officials and Party members, in order to prevent corruption.

He said that Hanoi would focus on fighting corruption, performing administrative reform and salary reform in the coming time.
