VietNamNet Bridge – To protect their health in sunny weather and from dust, Hanoi’s traffic policemen are permitted to wear sunglasses and masks while performing their duty.
Colonel Nguyen Duy Ngoc, head of the Hanoi Traffic Police Department, said that many streets are very dusty and traffic police officers have to work in scorching hot weather.

To protect their health, the Department asked the Ministry of Public Security’s permission for traffic policemen to wear sunglasses and masks (in case they do not have to use whistles) while conducting the traffic. This regulation has been implemented for a week.

“However, they are not allowed to wear sunglasses and masks when they meet with citizens or dealing with traffic violators,” Colonel Ngoc said.

Earlier, Hanoi’s traffic policemen were instructed to not put their hands in pants pocket, smoke, wear sunglasses at work.
