VietNamNet Bridge – HCMC Ballet and Symphony Orchestra (HBSO) will host a concert called “Sound of Germany” at the HCMC Opera House at 8 p.m., March 9. All of the music will be related to Germany in some way.
The first part of the program will feature music from German classical plays, operas, and modern films. Egmont Overture from the incidental music written by Beethoven for a production of Goethe’s play – Egmont – will begin the show. The classics will then be followed by John Williams’s theme from the Oscar winning “Schindler’s List” and Klaus Badelt’s soundtrack “He is a pirate” from Disney’s hugely successful “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl”. After that, the concert will take audience back to late 19th century with “Farandole” by Georges Bizet from Alphonse Daudet’s play “L’ Arlésienne” and Nimrod – the ninth Variation from Enigma Variations by Edward Elgar.
The second part of the show features Ludwig van Beethoven, as it will play his entire Symphony No.5 in C minor, one of the most popular and best-known compositions in all classical music, and one of the most played symphonies.
The conductor of the “Sound of Germany” will be Lior Shambadal, the principal conductor of the Berliner Symphoniker since 1997 and a guest conductor with international orchestras.
