VietNamNet Bridge – The HCMC Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO) will stage the world-renowned opera The Magic Flute in German on May 7-8 at the Opera House in District 1, HCMC.

The masterpiece with music composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and lyrics by poet Emanuel Schikaneder was premiered in Vienna in 1791. The show will be under the baton of conductor Tran Nhat Minh and German opera director David Hermann.

David Hermann studied at Hanns Eisler music school in Berlin. He won first prize at an international contest in stage direction and arrangement in Graz and has worked with many theaters in Berlin, Nürnberg, Düsseldorf and Frankfurt.

Tran Nhat Minh used to study at Magnitogorsk State Conservatory and Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Russia. In 2003, he won second prize at an international contest for young conductors in Wladiwostok. He performed with symphony orchestras and choruses in Russia, France and Italy. Minh won best conducting at a national music contest in Vietnam in 2009. Minh is currently vice director of HBSO.
