At noon on November 28, workers at the depot of the Green Logistics Center, National Highway 1A, Linh Trung Ward, Thu Duc District, Ho Chi Minh City, heard explosions and saw the fire outbreak. They used mini fire extinguishers to stamp the fire but they failed because there were a lot of chemicals in the warehouse. The fire quickly spread in the warehouse of thousands of square meters.

The large fire created columns of smoke of hundreds of meters high, accompanied with a bad smell. Fire trucks of the Linh Trung Export Processing Zone were sent to the site but they could not put out the fire. Local police blocked the scene and called the firefighting force.

All the firefighters of District 9 were sent to the scene. The HCM City Fire Department also mobilized over 200 policemen from District 2, Binh Thanh District, District 12 and the local rescue forces, with 17 fire engines to handle the fire.

The police had to break the wall to enter the depot. Tens of containers were displaced to have space for firefighting. After 3 hours, the fire was basically extinguished.

According to initial statistics, two warehouses totaling thousands of square meters with hundreds of tons of cargo inside were burned down and collapsed, with no loss of life.

The HCMC Firefighting Police Department is clarifying the causes and making damage statistics. However, it is initially estimated that the loss may reach tens of million of USD.
