VietNamNet Bridge – Up to 35,000 mobile subscribers in HCM City have been detected to give false personal information. HCM City authorities have stated to punish violators.

“We will decide the forms of punishment on telecom networks that break the rules this week. 35,000 subscribers who gave false information will have their service cut immediately,” said HCM City’s Vice Chair Le Manh Ha.

Ha said that this shows telecom networks’ disregard the law. HCM City authorities are determined to take tough measures to prevent such violations. Subscribers who are found out to give false information will lose their numbers.

Related telecom networks will be fined. In addition, the city will apply other measures to control these networks, Ha added.

He said that the real number may be higher than 35,000.

“Revoking numbers of violators is considered a major method and it will make great impacts on telecom networks. If subscribers want to get back their numbers, they will have to repeat the registration process again,” Ha confirmed.

The authorities said that it is dangerous that simcard agents sell simcards that are already registered with false information and must be addressed.

The 35,000 subscribers with false information were detected in the inspection of subscribers of seven telecom networks in HCM City, including MobiFone, VinaPhone, Viettel, Beeline, Vietnamobile, Sphone and EVNTelecom since mid-September 2011.
