VietNamNet Bridge – Popular war-era songs written by celebrated composer Phan Huynh Dieu will be performed at a concert next Monday evening at HCM City’s Conservatory of Music.

Dieu, 88, was one of the country’s first musicians who wrote revolutionary and march music that inspired the nation during the wars for independence.
He also wrote many love songs during the war years that are still popular with young people.
His revolutionary songs Doan Giai Phong Quan (Liberation Army) and Mua Dong Binh Si (Winter of Soldiers) will be performed, along with several popular love songs like O Hai Dau Noi Nho (At Two Ends of Nostalgia) and Nhung Anh Sao Dem (Starlight).
Dieu has written more than 100 songs.
Taking part in the concert will be well-known artists from HCM City and Ha Noi, including People’s Artist Tran Hieu and Meritorious Artists Mang Thi Hoi, Cao Minh and Duc Tuan.
