The People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has issued a decision approving the revised timeline for the construction of the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien urban railway line.
As per the revised decision, the project will complete its construction by the end of Q4 2024, with no other changes compared to the 2023 approval.
The Urban Railway Management Authority (URMA) of Ho Chi Minh City is tasked with full legal responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of the project's information and reports.
URMA is also responsible for organizing the execution of Metro Line 1 according to legal standards to ensure quality and efficiency within the set timeline.
Investors are required to develop a detailed plan for remaining tasks as per the schedule. This includes binding commitments on responsibilities and measures for identifying and addressing potential risks and obstacles.
Additionally, URMA must control the project's costs to prevent any unforeseen expenses due to the timeline adjustment. In case of any arising costs, the investor and related units must handle them as per legal regulations.
The People's Committee also mandates the investor to actively and proactively seek resolutions or appropriate measures for contractors' complaints, ensuring such issues do not prolong and impact the project's progress.
The investor holds full responsibility before the People's Committee and relevant authorities if the project faces further delays.
The Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien line, which started in August 2012, spans 19.7 km with 14 stations (11 elevated and 3 underground) and one depot. The project passes through District 1, Binh Thanh, Thu Duc City (HCMC), and Di An Town (Binh Duong), with a total investment exceeding VND 43 trillion.
Previously, Metro Line 1 faced several adjustments to its completion timeline in 2008, 2011, 2019, and 2023.
According to the latest report from URMA, the project's overall progress has reached 98.58%. The underground section from Ben Thanh station to the City Theater station (CP1a) is 100% complete. The section from the City Theater to Ba Son station (CP1b) is 99.96% complete, while the elevated section and depot (CP2) have achieved 99.76%. The procurement package for electromechanical equipment, locomotives, rail tracks, and maintenance (CP3) is 96.79% complete.
