VietNamNet Bridge – HCM City's Nguyen Luu Thanh Nhan won the fifth and final stage of the Return to the Countryside cycling tournament yesterday, June 10.

Nhan clocked in at two hours and 28.14 minutes to finish first in the 92km fifth stage which ran from Vi Thanh Town in Hau Giang Province to Long Xuyen City in An Giang.


The HCM City-based rider also donned the overall green jersey for best finish cyclist with 74 points.


His teammate Ach Xa Na Qui won the overall yellow jersey for a best time of 13:33.48 following six days of racing.


Tran Thanh Nhanh, another HCM City member, finished 16sec behind in second place while Nguyen Hoang Sang, from Vinh Long and Nguyen Huynh Phu Loc shared third with a time of 13:33.73.


Nhan and Tran Van Quyen, from Military Zone 7, took an early lead during the first 50km before being caught by Ho Huynh Van An from An Giang Plant Protection 1. The trio created a 3min gap before Nhan managing to overpower his rivals and win the stage.


Quyen finished 49sec slower in second place, while An was at third with a time of 2:28.40.


In the team division, Military Zone 7 triumphed with an accumulated time of 40:40.37, followed by An Giang Plant Protection 1 and HCM City.


In the amateur section, Ifaco-An Giang's Ly Quoc Viet took the yellow jersey with a time of 13:47.47

Le Thanh Tung and Le Tan Lai, both from Chau Phu-An Giang, finished second and third, respectively.
