VietNamNet Bridge – The HCM City Department of Education has announced that it does not plan to hike tuition fees at public schools next year and has sought the People’s Committee’s approval for it.

Following discussions with the education bureaus of the city’s 24 districts, it said it would keep the fees unchanged from last year.

Pre-school and kindergarten fees are VND140,000 (US$6.2) and VND100,000 ($4.4) per month respectively in outlying districts. In urban districts they are VND60,000 ($2.6) higher.

Secondary and high school fees are VND85,000-120,000 per month in outlying districts and VND100,000 in urban districts.

Fees at schools that adopt an advanced model meeting international education standards is VND120,000 per month.

Students at these schools also have to pay some additional fees, though not exceeding VND1.5 million a month.
