VietNamNet Bridge – In the afternoon of July 18, a gas explosion occurred in the warehouse of the U.S. Consulate General at No. 51 Nguyen Dinh Chieu, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City, taking the life of a male worker.

At 2pm, Mr. Duong Trong Han, 33 years old, a native of Dong Thap province, an employee of the General Service Division of the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City was repairing an air conditioner in the warehouse when the gas leak caused explosion, killing Han on the spot.

The authorities were present at the scene to investigate the cause. The body of the ill-fated employee was taken to the funeral home of the An Binh Hospital in District 5.

Mr. Le Thanh An, U.S. Consul General in HCM City, said the Ambassador, himself as well as the entire United States Mission in Vietnam would like to send their condolences and deepest sympathy to Han's family.

"He will be remembered by all people who had the opportunity to know him. We would like to offer our condolences to Mr. Han’s family and pray for his family at this most difficult time," An added.
