According to the local media, the HCMC People’s Council today, May 11, organized an extraordinary meeting to vote for two new vice chairpeople and three members of the municipal People’s Commitee.
Hoan got 78.85% of the vote and Chau 84.62%.
Chau, born in 1964 in HCMC’s Binh Chanh District, had served as head of the Thu Duc District Police before holding the post of deputy director of the HCMC Police Department. He will replace Huynh Cach Mang, who has been named as deputy head of the municipal Party Committee’s Organization Board, to be in charge of the city’s home affairs.
Meanwhile, Hoan, born in 1965 in the central province of Quang Ngai, used to be chairman of the District 6 government before serving as the city government office chief. He will be responsible for economic issues.
HCMC Vice Chairman Tran Vinh Tuyen, who had earlier been in charge of the city’s economic issues, will take the helm of urban issues, replacing Le Van Khoa, who has resigned due to health reasons.
Thus, Nguyen Thanh Phong is chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee and his four deputies are Le Thanh Liem, Tran Vinh Tuyen, Ngo Minh Chau and Vo Van Hoan.
At the meeting, HCMC People’s Council Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Le said the election of new municipal vice chairpeople is crucial to help deal with problems during the city’s socioeconomic development.
The municipal Council also elected three new members of the municipal People’s Committee, including Tran Quang Lam, Le Hoa Binh and Le Thi Huynh Mai, directors of the Departments of Transport, Construction and Planning-Investment, respectively.
In addition, members of the council approved the dismissal of the title of members of the HCMC People’s Committee for Bui Xuan Cuong, former director of the Department of Transport, Tran Trong Tuan, former director of the Department of Construction, and Nguyen Long Tuyen, former chief of the municipal Inspectorate, who have been assigned to other posts.
