The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports has proposed organizing a 15-minute fireworks display at the entrance of the Saigon River Tunnel in Thu Duc City every Saturday evening for five consecutive weeks, starting from April 19 to May 31. The fireworks will take place from 9:00 PM to 9:15 PM.

According to the department, the initiative aims to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and the 135th birthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025).

From March 20 to May 31, the city will host a series of cultural and sports activities with meaningful and practical themes.

The series of events will take place every Saturday evening on April 19, April 26, May 3, May 10, and May 17.

Activities will include music performances, street music shows, river parade of cruise ships, floral boat displays on the Saigon River, paragliding performances, flyboard demonstrations, and more.

These events will be held at Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street, Bach Dang Wharf, the Saigon River, and Thu Duc Riverfront Park.

On April 29 and April 30, Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street and the Bach Dang Wharf area along the Saigon River will host a variety of artistic performances, including circus acts, magic shows, classical Vietnamese opera (hat boi), martial arts demonstrations, and brass band performances.

On the evening of April 30, a drone performance featuring 10,500 drones will take place, showcasing symbolic and meaningful images reflecting Ho Chi Minh City's development over the past 50 years. This drone show is expected to set a Vietnamese record for the highest number of drones in the air simultaneously.

The city also plans to hold fireworks displays at seven locations, including the entrance of the Saigon River Tunnel (Thu Duc City), the Ben Duoc Martyrs Memorial (Cu Chi District), Nga Ba Giong Martyrs Memorial (Hoc Mon District), Lang Le - Bau Co Historic Site (Binh Chanh District), Can Gio District Football Stadium, the National History and Culture Park, and Dam Sen Cultural Park.

Apart from the planned seven fireworks locations, the Ho Chi Minh City Command is encouraging local districts and businesses to participate in organizing additional fireworks displays through social contributions.
