The announcement was made by Lieutenant Colonel Ho Thi Lanh, Deputy Head of the Police Division for Administrative Management of Social Order under HCM City Police, at the city's socioeconomic press conference on October 15.

According to Lanh, the public transport system on VNeID was developed under the leadership of the HCM City Department of Construction, in coordination with HCM City Police and the Ministry of Public Security's Police Department for Administrative Management of Social Order (C06).

HCM City is currently the first locality to complete the integration of both metro and bus services into the application.

Residents can purchase electronic tickets, use them to check in at metro stations and bus stops, and search for and manage journeys involving multiple modes of public transport.

The initiative represents a step toward establishing a unified electronic ticketing system for public transportation.

After more than four years of development, VNeID now offers 42 groups of administrative procedures and features supporting socioeconomic activities, helping individuals and businesses reduce paperwork and save time and costs when accessing public services.

The latest version of the application introduces 12 additional features, including utilities related to social welfare, payments and electronic document management.

Since August 28, 2026, pensioners and social benefit recipients have been able to register to receive payments through their social welfare accounts on VNeID.

Users can also link bank accounts, payment cards and electronic wallets to the app's digital document wallet to pay for public services and administrative fees.

The application also integrates electronic health records, dependents' academic records, diplomas, certificates, birth certificates and vehicle inspection information.

It supports registration for VNeID CA personal digital signatures through the centralized digital signing portal.

Other features allow residents to evaluate the quality of administrative services, report online scams and flag misinformation.

Additional services support families and digital administration

Notably, the app's Martyrs' Family Connection feature allows users to search for information about fallen soldiers, submit requests to verify family relationships and track the processing of their applications.

The collected data also contributes to efforts to identify the remains of fallen soldiers whose identities have not yet been established.

Electronic land use rights certificates are currently being piloted at nine administrative units, including HCM City.

Once its land database has been cleaned and standardized, HCM City is expected to become one of the first localities to use electronic land use rights certificates on VNeID for administrative procedures.

Residents may receive fee exemptions and reductions for online procedures

Under the Government's Resolution 66/2026, effective from August 15, 2026, to February 28, 2027, residents with Level 2 electronic identification accounts who have fully integrated five required types of information may qualify for exemptions or reductions in fees and charges when completing administrative procedures online.

The five required items are birth certificate information, a payment account, a social welfare account, a phone number and an electronic health record.

Lieutenant Colonel Ho Thi Lanh recommended that residents regularly check and update their information on VNeID to ensure that the data remains accurate, complete, clean and up to date.

Users should promptly report any errors to the police.

Residents who change their place of residence should update their registration through the application.

Those who have not yet obtained a Level 2 electronic identification account are encouraged to register and activate one as soon as possible.
