VietNamNet Bridge – The city's Department of Health has issued guidelines on implementing the pilot English teaching programme for third graders and intensive English teaching for the first graders in the coming 2010-2011 school year.

Le Ngoc Diep, head of the department's Primary Education Office, said that nine primary schools in the city would implement the pilot programme for the third graders.

The schools are: Hoa Binh Primary School and Duoc Song Primary School in District 1; Phan Dinh Phung and Truong Quyen Primary School in District 3; Phong Phu and Nguyen Minh Quang Primary School in District 9; Ho Van Cuong and Au Co Primary School in Tan Phu District; and Nguyen Thuong Hien Primary School in Go Vap District.

The programme will use the textbook "Family And Friends" published by the Oxford Publishing House.

The department has asked schools that will implement the intensive English teaching for first graders to ensure that the number of students in each classroom is not more than 35.
