The meeting is scheduled to take place at the City Conference Hall at 111 Ba Huyen Thanh Quan Street in District 3 on January 31.

There are fewer overseas Vietnamese joining this year’s meeting compared to the 2012 Lunar New Year meeting with around 1,000 people.

According to the central bank’s HCMC branch, the amount of overseas remittance to the city reached around US$4.1 billion in 2012, a 15% year-on-year increase. This rise in remittance will help stabilize foreign exchange rates this year.

Remittance flowing into the property sector contracted to around 23% compared to 50% in 2011.

Local authorities will also organize receptions, supporting Viet Kieu at Tan Son Nhat International Airport and creating favorable conditions in accommodation for them in the city.
