The 2019 Light Festival will begin on April 5. The main streets in District 7’s Tan Phu Ward will be illuminated with many coloured lights.

Twenty-four 10-metre high lanterns will be placed in various zones during the holiday. Highlighted areas include the World Buildings zone with lanterns depicting the beauty of sports and architecture and the Wonderland zone with scenes created by Disney Castle, Big Wheel and Snow Village shaped lanterns.

Lighting performances will take place on Tan Trao Street in the district’s Phu My Hung area.

Lantern displays, booths selling goods, souvenirs and food, and kids’ games areas and stages for entertainment activities will cover several hundred square metres.

Music and song shows, as well as theatre, dance, puppet, circus and magic performances by Vietnamese, Japanese and Koreans artists, will be featured.

Cinemas, restaurants and shopping malls in District 7 are now preparing for the holiday event, which is expected to attract thousands of youth.

"The Light Festival 2019 event takes place on the occasion of two big national holidays, so it will be a rendezvous for people to visit, take photos and go shopping," said a representative of the organiser, TJ Communications Limited Company.

The festival will close on May 19.
