VietNamNet Bridge – HCM City-based businesses need 26,000 additional workers this month, 10 per cent more than in August, according to the HCM City Centre for Forecasting Manpower Needs and Labour Market Information.



Of them, 55 per cent would have to be skilled and experienced workers, with the rest being manual labour and seasonal workers. Services, trading-marketing, accountancy – audit, construction, IT, design, electronics-telecom, and textile-footwear remained the sectors with the highest demand, Tran Anh Tuan, the centre's standing deputy head, said.

In August vacancies for permanent jobs fell by more than 20 per cent compared to the beginning of the year, but the demand for seasonal jobs, especially sales, increased by 10 per cent.

Tuan expected companies, especially small- and medium-sized ones in textile and footwear, to become cautious in recruiting workers in the next months because the new minimum salary of VND2 million per month took effect in October.

This could cause difficulties for workers in finding jobs, he said.

According to the City Job Introduction Centre, more than 79,000 workers have registered for jobs since the beginning of this year, double last year's number.
