VietNamNet Bridge – HCM City authorities have asked Viettel, one of the top three mobile networks in Vietnam, to stop supplying its services to 114,352 mobile subscribers which are using pre-paid services, who registered services with wrong personal information.

This is the second time within less than 10 days that HCM City authorities have requested mobile networks to stop providing services to subscribers who violate the rules.

Earlier, on December 28, 2011, the city decided to suspend 37,000 mobile subscribers, including 23,000 of Viettel. The city also imposed VND30 million ($1,500) of fine each on three telecom service providers – Viettel, MobiFone and Vinaphone.

The city has also asked all telecom service providers to check information registered by their subscribers and no longer provider services to violators.

The HCM City Department of Information and Communications is told to ask telecom service providers to provide necessary information on mobile subscribers for continuing its check.

The department will have to submit the plan on management of mobile subscribers to submit to the HCM City People’s Committee before January 15.
