VietNamNet Bridge - Before robbery crime rises at the end of the year, the police forces in HCM City are instructed to increase patrols and attack this kind of crime.

Robbery on the streets of Saigon

"The state of the criminal offense such as robbery and theft of property rises at the end of the year," said Lieutenant Colonel Vu Nhu Ha of the HCM City Police Agency, at a press conference on November 27, on the situation of security and order in the city.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Ha, in the last four days, Ho Chi Minh City police discovered 45 cases and arrested 50 people involved, including 40 cases and 47 people involved in robbery and theft.

To reduce crime (especially robbery gangs) that often rises at the end of the year, Ho Chi Minh City police have mobilized all police forces to suppress crime.

The police will combine with local night-watch forces to patrol highways, suburban areas, industrial parks, dark and deserted roads and the city center routes where often welcome foreigners and tourists.

"The Municipal Police Agency also directs grassroots units to create favorable conditions for the victims to report criminal cases ", said Lieutenant Colonel Ha.

The HCM City Police Agency has advised the city authorities to establish a steering committee on crime prevention in wards, which are led by the ward Party Secretary and Chair.

This model will be implemented on a trial basis in some wards of Tan Binh, Binh Thanh, Thu Duc, Binh Tan and Binh Chanh districts.

Regards to the question whether Ho Chi Minh City should establish the special forces such as the Task Force 141 that works very well in Hanoi, Ha said before Hanoi set up the 141 task force, Ho Chi Minh City had also adopted the same model.

"In the coming time, this force will be slightly adjusted to fit to reality in order to improve efficiency," Ha said.
