After receiving a tip-off, the police on December 29 caught a truck carrying more than 1 ton of used printing ink and a large quantity of ink-stained dusters.

The driver failed to show any documents allowing him to transport the harmful waste, and he said he was hired to carry the waste from the An Lac Label Printing Joint Stock Company from Tan Duc Industrial Park in Duc Hoa District, Long An Province to the depot, which is owned by Nguyen Manh Cuong.

The police immediately raided the depot and found more than 15 tons of hazardous waste of various kinds from the printing industry improperly stored inside.

Cuong admitted to the police that he was operating the depot without a business license, and he has not obtained any licenses for harmful waste storage or treatment.

It took officers two days to carry all the waste from the depot to their warehouse.

The police are continuing with their investigation.
