VietNamNet Bridge – The Post Office building, a symbol of HCM City, was repainted yellow last December, which was said to be more appropriate to its old beauty.

However, tourists and local residents said the bright yellow was too gaudy and unsuitable for the 130-year building.

After trying many colors, a special council approved the official paint color, a light yellow, in early February.

The building’s new coat of paint will be completed in early April.

The building, at 2 Paris Commune in District 1, was built in 1886 by the French colonial government and, along with the Notre Dame Cathedral and Saigon Tax Centre, is considered a symbol of HCM City, making it a popular destination for foreign tourists and attracting thousands of visitors a day.
