During the two-day official mourning and state funeral, governmental offices and public places will hang the national flag at half-mast, and no public entertainment events will be organised.

Anh’s body will lie in state at the National Funeral Home at 5 Tran Thanh Tong Street, Hanoi, where mourners can pay respects from 7 am to 11 am on May 3.

It will be followed by a memorial service from 11 am. The burial ceremony is scheduled for 5 pm on the same day at the HCM City Cemetery.

At the same time, the tribute-paying and memorial services for the late president will be held at the Reunification Palace in HCM City and the hall of the People’s Committee of the central province of Thua Thien-Hue, his hometown.

Condolences continue to flow in from abroad over the death of former President General Le Duc Anh.

President of Nicaragua Daniel Ortega Saavedra and Vice President of Nicaragua Rosario Murillo sent a letter of sympathy to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong.

President of Mongolia Khaltmaa Battulga also offered his condolences to Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong.

General Le Duc Anh, who served as President of Vietnam from September 1992 to December 1997, passed away on April 22 at the age of 99.

A State funeral was held for General Le Duc Anh on May 3, with the respect-paying ceremony held from 7am-11am at the National Funeral Hall, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong street, Hanoi.

At the same time, respect-paying and memorial ceremonies for the former leader were also held at Thong Nhat Hall in Ho Chi Minh City, and the Hall of the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue province.
