The municipal People’s Council has passed a number of key socio-economic resolutions aimed at addressing the city’s challenges to drive growth in 2024, including a range of issues such as public investment and PPP investment projects.

The council approved a list of 41 PPP projects, comprising six projects in the health sector, 12 projects in the education and training sector, and 23 projects in the sports and culture sector.

In the health sector, projects include building a medical examination and treatment services area at Nguyễn Tri Phương Hospital in District 5 with 300 patient beds, four ground floors and 15 floors; HCM City Stroke Hospital in Thủ Đức City with 500 patient beds; a high-tech screening and diagnostic centre in Thủ Đức City and Bình Chánh District; and the second phase of Hospital Practice.

The city will concentrate on projects that build schools at all levels in districts of 7, 8, 12, Bình Tân, Bình Chánh and Thủ Đức City.

In the culture and sports sector, there are many projects, including Gia Định Theater; the construction, renovation and upgrade of the entire Gia Định Theatre; the renovation project of the city-level architectural and artistic relic site of Đình Bình Trị Đông Temple, and many others.

The municipal People’s Council has assigned the municipal People's Committee to organise and strictly implement regulations of the Law on Investment related to the PPP form and relevant regulations; and provide detailed information about the projects for investors and supervisors.

The municipal People's Committee will be responsible for directing relevant agencies to review and evaluate the needs and urgency of investment projects and the availability of budget capital before consulting the People's Committee and submitting proposals to the municipal People's Council for consideration, promulgation, supplements and adjustments of the project list. — VNS
