At a conference held on September 15, Tran Vinh Tuyen, the committee’s vice chairman, said the smart administration centre would help solve problems such as traffic congestion, floods, and pollution, as well as enhance interaction between city authorities, enterprises and residents.

The simulation centre for forecasting socio-economic strategies will help city authorities develop a “new vision” and achieve success in building an e-government in the smart urban area.

The city’s Party Committee Secretary, Nguyen Thien Nhan, said the city was calling for investment in the admin and simulation centres at the conference, where city authorities are consulting experts about the design and software needed for the two centres.

Duong Anh Duc, director of Department of Information and Communications, said the simulation centre for forecasting socio-economic strategies would be needed for decision-making by 2021.

The IOC administration centre is expected to be completed after 2025.

A representative of Viet Nam Posts and Telecommunications Group said that the IOC centre would gather and analyze data from many sources to observe management and would help with planning and development.

Nhan said that the smart urban area project would help maintain high and sustainable economic growth, improve people’s living standards, and provide better services to residents.

Transparency would allow residents to more closely monitor city agencies’ activities.  

To carry out the smart urban area project, he said that a responsible authority would be set up first to forecast, make plans, issue “smart policies”, build environment for interaction and apply IT, he added.
