Le Minh Xuan Mental Hospital is about 20km away from the city centre. Several parts of the hospital were repaired from 2003 to 2007. However, after a few years, the whole building has deteriorated and experienced serious subsidence.
The floor tiles on the hallways have broken as the floor became uneven. Meanwhile, the paint on the walls has peeled off. The hospital has had to put up many warning signs against slippery and uneven floors. Not many patients and family members dare to sit on the benches in the waiting area because of the damaged floor.
HCM City Department of Health has worked with the hospital managers and agreed to spend VND2bn (USD86,100) from the hospital's fund for repair. The proposal has been submitted to related agencies and Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
