There are some 94,000 labourers in the city’s tourism service sector, according to Vu. Hospitality, openness and enthusiasm from the staff are crucial elements to improve service quality, Vu stressed, adding that positive attitude will create indelible impression on the tourists.

Kawaue Jun-inchi, Japanese General Consul in HCM City, underlined that along with popularising attractive destinations, service quality is of significance for tourism development.

Japan’s management and service models were shared at the conference, which help enhance competitiveness capacity for the Vietnamese tourism sector in the context of global economic integration.

In the first six months of this year, the city welcomed 2.8 million foreign holiday-makers, a year-on-year increase of 14 percent, and pocketed 53.6 billion VND (2.4 million USD) from tourism revenue, up 12 percent from the same time last year.

The tourism sector is making a beeline for building typical tourism products and enhancing service quality to make vacationers stay longer in the city.
