VietNamNet Bridge - Along with late composer Trinh Cong Son, the names of seven famous artists will be given to roads in District 9 in Ho Chi Minh City.

They include poets Nguyen Dinh Thi, Xuan Quynh, Diep Minh Tuyen and Huy Can, songwriters Pham Trong Cau and Trinh Cong Son, and artists Thanh Nga and Ut Tra On.

At the same time, 23 roads in District 12 will be named after Vietnam’s heroic mothers such as Ha Thi Khiem, Le Thi Nho, and Ha Thi Kheo.

These 31 roads have existed for many years, but they did not have official names until now.

Trinh Cong Son (1939 - 2001) is one of the greatest songwriters of Vietnam in modern times. There are no statistics on the number of songs left by Son (estimated at about 600 songs), but most of them are love songs. Trinh Cong Son is also known as an amateur poet and painter.

He passed away in HCM City of diabetes on April 1, 2001. Thousands of people attended his funeral. He was buried in the cemetery of Go Dua, in the southern province of Binh Duong.
