VietNamNet Bridge – HCM City on May 26, made public the list of 95 winners of the People’s Council election (2011-2016 tenure), which took place on May 22. Three of them are female artists.

They are cai luong singer Que Tran, actress/director Hong Van and singer Thanh Thuy. They gained 60.5 percent, 60.32 and 58.07 percent of votes.

 

Four journalists succeeded in the election, including one from the HCM City Television Station (HTV), one from the HCM City People’s Voice Radio, one from the Sai Gon Giai Phong (Saigon Liberation) newspaper and one from the HCM City Police Newspaper.

 

Of the three self-nominated candidates, two won the election: Lam Thieu Quan, General Director of the Pioneer Technology JS Company and Tran Quang Thang, Director of the Institute for Economic Management. Both of them had over 60 percent of votes.

 

Candidates who won the highest rates of votes (over 70 percent) are officials of the city’s Party and government agencies, for example, Vice Party Chief, Nguyen Van Dua, Chairman Le Hoang Quan, Vice Chairwoman, Nguyen Thi Hong and chief of HCM City Party Committee’s Information and Education Bureau, Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam.

 

Of the 95 winners, 85 are members of the Communist Party of Vietnam and ten are non-Party members.

 

There are 21 women, 17 re-elected delegates, 5 who are Buddhist and Christian followers, 2 Chinese-Vietnamese and 12 who are under 35 years old.

 

In terms of careers, 32 are state officers, 15 officials of Party agencies, 13 officials of the Youth Union, 11 businessmen and 24 of other sectors.

 

In terms of education, 92 are university graduates.
