Fireworks to mark Reunification Day and May Day in HCM City

According to the city’s Department of Transport, the ban is to ensure order and safety during the upcoming events in celebration of Reunification Day (April 30) and International Labour Day (May 1).

The municipal Department of Culture and Sports will organise an art performance today in front of the HCM City Opera House at the intersection of Dong Khoi and Le Loi streets.

The ban on Dong Khoi Street will take place on the section extending from Le Thanh Ton Street to Le Loi Street.

Vehicles going from Le Thanh Ton Street to Ton Duc Thang Street will be diverted to Ly Tu Trong, Hai Ba Trung and Dong Du streets or Mac Thi Buoi Street. In the reverse direction, vehicles will take Nam Ky Khoi Nghia and Ham Nghi streets.

On Sunday, a cross-country run will be held on Le Duan Street on a section from Pasteur Street to Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street.

Vehicles going from Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street to Le Duan Street should take Alexandre de Rhodes and Pham Ngoc Thach streets or Han Thuyen and Pasteur streets. They can take Pham Ngoc Thach and Alexandre de Rhodes streets or Cong xa Paris and Han Thuyen streets in the reverse direction.

To prevent traffic jams during firework shows next Tuesday, from 8:30pm to 9:30pm vehicles will be banned on the following streets in districts 1 and 4: Nguyen Tat Thanh (Hoang Dieu to Khanh Hoi Bridge), Ton Duc Thang (Me Linh Square to Khanh Hoi Bridge), Dong Khoi (Ngo Duc Ke to Ton Duc Thang), Hai Trieu (Ho Tung Mau to Nguyen Hue) and Ham Nghi (Ho Tung Mau to Ton Duc Thang).

Vehicles are not permitted to stop on Khanh Hoi, Mong, Calmette, Ong Lanh, Thu Thiem, Nguyen Huu Canh, Binh Loi, Binh Trieu, Rach Chiec, Sai Gon and Phu My bridges, the flyover at Hang Xanh crossroads, bridges on Mai Chi Tho Street and the roof of Thu Thiem Tunnel.
