The toilets will be built in parks and at bus stations of 24 districts to serve people and tourists from 5am to 10pm every day.

In 2013, the first 10 4-5 star public toilets opened at parks Tao Dan Park, Le Van Tam and 23/9, accompanied by ATMs.

The 60sq.m toilets were built by a bank, at a cost of VND800 million to VND1 billion ($40,000-$50,000). The bank also covers the operation costs of these works.

The opening of the public toilets was welcomed by the public, many of whom said they wanted more similar toilets in the city.

HCM City is the most populous city in Vietnam, and it welcomes more than 60% of the total tourists in the country each year. However, the city has only 200 public toilets, many of which have deteriorated.
