According to the project’s feasibility study submitted to the HCM City Department of Planning and Investment, the six-lane bridge will be 7.30 kilometres long, including three kilometres running across the Soai Rap River. The project starts at Road 15B and ends at Rung Sac Road.
The project will include the construction of the drainage system and support facilities, including the lighting system, toll booths and cameras.
Site clearance and compensation is expected to be finished by the end of next year.
The city has planned to apply a bridge toll during the 2028-2051 period.
Can Gio Bridge will replace the busy Binh Khanh ferry service, helping connect Can Gio District and the city centre.
The prime minister has also approved Can Gio sea encroachment urban area project with a total investment and a Can Gio International Transshipment Port.
